Nerve pain is a disease or abnormality of the nervous system, which is not curable. Symptoms of nerve pain depend on which nerves are affected, and the means that causes the nerve damage. Some of the most common symptoms of nerve pain are:
Urinary and gastrointestinal issues
Cramping in the toes, feet and/or hands
Feeling of pins and needles or creepy crawlers
Lack of coordination - feeling off balance
Difficulty doing certain daily living activities such as raising your arms above your head
Different nerves may be affected by this condition. Sensory nerves are those that receive sensations, motor nerves are those that control the muscles and autonomic nerves are those that control body functions such as blood pressure, heart rate, digestion and bladder function. Nerve Conduction Studies may be completed to determine where the neuropathy has affected the nervous system.
There are several types of nerve pain, or damage, that may affect the nervous system.
Diabetic Nerve Pain can occur before a Diabetes diagnosis is given. Symptoms can include numbness, painful feet, weakness, dizziness, indigestion, constipation and impotence.

Idiopathic Nerve Pain is nerve pain where no cause is known. Symptoms can include numbness, tingling, pain in the toes and feet, muscle cramps and may also affect balance.
Immune Nerve Pain, also known as Inflammatory Nerve Pain, is where nerves are attacked by the immune system which causes weakness and sensory abnormalities.
